The minimum grant request is $25,000.00; the maximum grant request is $250,000.00.
This is a Federally funded, matching reimbursement grant program. The required match is 20% of the total project (80% RTP grant funding, 20% local match). The funding agency is the Federal Highway Administration.

Applications will be scored based on the scoring guide. Final decisions on funding will be made in Spring 2027.
Contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to determine if your project will require permits. Avoid impacts to wetlands; permits will be required if impacted.
Land Appraisals
Acquisition of land may be accomplished through purchase, transfer, gift, or other means. All acquisitions must conform to the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970. Please see KYTC Pre-qualified Appraiser List for an appraiser in your area.
All Land Appraisals must adhere to the Appraisal Requirements for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The Recreational Trails Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration and administered by the Department for Local Government. Funding can be used for the acquisition of property and the development and/or maintenance of recreational trails, trailheads, and trailside facilities in the state of Kentucky.
