The Department for Local Government, or DLG, under the Office of the Governor, provides financial help in the way of grant and loan assistance, as well as advising local governments in matters of budget, personnel and other issues relevant to those entities.

FUNDING NOTICE: CDBG 2008 DISASTER RECOVERY

The Department for Local Government (DLG), Office of Federal Grants, has received $3.2 million through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist communities with long term recovery from unmet needs as a result of the 2008 disasters. Fifty-six counties were included in at least one of the three presidential declared disasters. All local units of government (cities and counties) within the designated 56 county area are eligible for the Disaster Recovery program, including HUD Entitlements within the affected areas. These funds can be used to assist counties with recovery in the following ways: 1) To rehab affordable rental housing in the impacted areas; 2). To address public facilities, infrastructure and emergency service needs; and 3). To participate in the state’s initiative of providing mobile homes with the increased ability to sustain high winds by installing tie downs or placing them on a permanent foundation.

The areas included in this funding cycle are the following 56 counties: Adair, Allen, Anderson, Ballard, Bath, Boone, Breckinridge, Bullitt, Caldwell, Calloway, Campbell, Carlisle, Carroll, Casey, Christian, Crittenden, Davis, Estill, Fayette, Fleming, Franklin, Fulton, Gallatin, Graves, Grayson, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Hart, Henderson, Hickman, Hopkins, Jefferson, Kenton, Lewis, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, McLean, Meade, Mercer, Metcalfe, Monroe, Morgan, Muhlenberg, Nicholas, Ohio, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trigg, Trimble, Union, Webster, Woodford.

Also included are the HUD entitlement communities: Covington, Elizabethtown, Henderson, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Louisville, Owensboro.

DLG will be accepting formal applications until close of business September 15, 2010.
